About Me
Oriane Sossah is an emerging French artist based in Paris. Her artistic journey has been one of evolution, blending traditional techniques with innovative digital media. With a background initially in law, hospitality, and business management, Oriane’s path into the world of art was both unique and self-guided.
Through her education and diverse career experiences, Oriane found a new passion in contemporary painting, where she has flourished as a Paris-based contemporary painter.
Largely self-taught, Oriane has also been mentored by renowned artists, including her sister Céline Lou Sossah, PhD in Art Philosophy, and François Mattei, a celebrated Corsican painter based in Paris. Their influence has been key in shaping her dynamic approach to painting and digital art.
Artistic Practice
Oriane’s work spans acrylic painting, drawings, and digital art, with each piece reflecting her passion for capturing deep emotional resonance. Her work is rooted in emotion and driven by the desire to connect with the viewer. Color, form, and texture play pivotal roles in her pieces, serving as vehicles for exploring human experience and emotions.
Her artistic practice follows a multidisciplinary approach, combining traditional media with digital tools. Oriane continuously seeks to innovate by merging digital art with her classical skills, using both to express her ideals and her vision in a modern context.
Inspiration and Concepts
The inspiration behind Oriane’s work is deeply personal and connected to the world around her. She is drawn to the unexpected and the familiar, finding beauty and meaning in everyday moments. Her art is a reflection of this: a thoughtful exploration of concepts, places, and people that allow her to transform ordinary experiences into extraordinary works of art.
Every piece begins as an idea, followed by reflection and innovation. Oriane’s work challenges viewers to experience the world through her eyes, offering fresh perspectives and emotional depth.
Current Work / In Research
I’m trying to paint what cannot be said. For several months, I’ve been in a phase of research inward, sensory, intuitive. I’m exploring what can bring relief, calm, or clarity without needing to be explained.
My artistic practice is shifting. I’m working with suspended formats paper, fabric, hanging materials that fall from above like quiet presences. I’m experimenting with colors, energies, and textures. I read a lot. I collaborate. I test.
What I’m hoping to offer are not answers. Rather, spaces where we can pause. Breathe. Remember something essential. Fragments of light, maybe. A place to stand. A sense of connection.
This work is ongoing. It’s growing through layers reading, sketching, collecting materials, trying, dreaming.
It will soon take the form of suspended pieces, made for spaces sacred or otherwise that are open to light.
I keep going. I breathe. I paint.
