I Won the Special Jury Prize at the 2024 Arts and Culture Awards for My Painting “Alain Delon”
It is with immense joy that I received the Special Jury Prize at the 2024 Arts and Culture Awards for my painting Alain Delon, a work that pays tribute to one of the most iconic figures in French cinema. This award crowns a deeply personal endeavor, blending history, cultural heritage, and artistic expression.
A Striking Inspiration
The inspiration for this piece was born in November 2021, during the visit of the Ukrainian Minister of Culture to the Cultural Institute of the Ukrainian Embassy in Paris. This location, which was once the residence of Alain Delon at 22 Avenue de Messine, left a profound impression on me. On the occasion of the inauguration of the Alain Delon Honor Hall, the ambassador commissioned several paintings from me to capture the imprint left by the actor.
“Alain Delon vu du 22”: A Monumental Work
Among the five paintings created as part of this project, Alain Delon vu du 22 stands out for its impressive format (140 x 100 cm) and its unique pictorial treatment. The deep blue of the doors at 22 Avenue de Messine guided my palette, evoking both Delon’s piercing gaze and the atmosphere of legendary films such as La Piscine.
In this painting, I sought to depict a spectral Delon, a timeless presence that seems to still haunt these memory-laden spaces. My goal was to capture the essence of this legendary actor while infusing it with my own artistic sensibility.
A Major Artistic Recognition
Receiving the Special Jury Prize at the 2024 Arts and Culture Awards is a tremendous honor for me. This award acknowledges an artistic approach that intertwines memory, history, and emotion. It also highlights my desire to create a dialogue between the past and the present through my work.
This distinction marks a significant milestone in my artistic journey and encourages me to continue my explorations with even more passion and sincerity.
