Oriane Sossah, a contemporary artist renowned for her striking portraits and multidisciplinary approach to art, will participate in the 2025 edition of Event Pitch, organized by the Instantanés Éternels association. This one-of-a-kind event invites emerging filmmakers to transform a visual artwork into a short film, embodying the theme “When the Image Comes to Life.”
For this edition, Oriane Sossah highlights one of her signature works: a portrait of Daniel Pop, an inspiring figure in the world of performing arts. A Romanian-born artistic director, dancer, choreographer, and researcher in contemporary arts, Daniel Pop has left an indelible mark on the artistic scene through his exceptional career.
“When I discovered the theme of the contest, I immediately thought of Daniel. I proposed creating his portrait,” Oriane Sossah shared. Through this painting, she captures the essence of an artist who brought images to life through his unique blend of contemporary dance and initiatory journeys across Europe and South America.
Trained under choreographer Gigi Caciuleanu (former director of the Rennes and Brittany Choreographic Center and the National Ballet of Chile), Daniel Pop enriched his choreographic language through profound encounters with Carolyn Carlson, Marie-Claude Pietragalla, and Olivier Dubois. His way of inhabiting space, embodying movement, and storytelling through dance aligns perfectly with the competition’s theme.
On December 25, 2024, Daniel Pop’s portrait, along with other original works created by Oriane Sossah for Event Pitch 2025, will be unveiled. These pieces will serve as the starting point for short films conceived by participants, who must translate the emotion of a still image into motion.
Event Pitch 2025 offers a vibrant dialogue between painting and cinema. Selected candidates will benefit from intensive training in the art of pitching and storytelling techniques, aiming to bring these visual inspirations to life on the big screen.
