Oriane Sossah, jury member for Paris-Dauphine at the PSL Expo 2025

PSL EXPO

Reflections on my participation in the PSL Expo 2025 jury for Paris-Dauphine, alongside Camille Pouyfaucon and Joanes.

We made our decision based on several essential criteria: the emotional impact of the artworks, their relevance to the theme, the diversity of mediums and techniques, and their technical and artistic quality. The goal was to select works that both evoke deep emotion and explore various forms of expression.

The piece “Fishing Line” was especially appreciated for its interpretation of family bonds and emotional resonance. It was praised for its composition and the richness of its colors. The artwork “Indissociable”, on the other hand, impressed the jury with its original and inventive take on the theme, featuring high-quality drawing and meticulous execution.

We also emphasized the diversity of mediums used, valuing works in drawing, photography, and installation. Each jury member first shared their individual preferences, and a consensus gradually emerged around three standout pieces. After many discussions, we awarded first prize to “Indissociable” for its originality and graphic quality. “Fishing Line” earned second place, and Marco’s installation was awarded third for its strong visual and experimental impact.

Finding a balance between creativity, technique, and the coherence of the message conveyed was crucial in our deliberations.

The keywords that guided my reflection were: sensitivity, approach, and aesthetics. Art is, above all, a matter of personal emotion, and each piece moved us in a unique way. We ensured that every artist had the space to express their interpretation of the theme with subtlety and thoughtfulness, while giving beauty a central place—not as something static, but as the artwork’s power to transmit profound emotion.

This competition was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate creativity and to highlight talented artists, while striving to make art accessible to all. The coherence between content and form was essential to our selection, and we hoped each piece would engage in a meaningful dialogue with the viewer, regardless of their background or sensibility.
